Omi is a very recent body of work. I have used my grandmother’s portrait as a space to teach myself a range of different painting and drawing techniques. It is my aim to take these studies and embark on a bigger series that looks at a visual investigation of my heritage. I hope to use this investigation to not only push my skills as a visual artist but also to understand more about my identity as a white female in South Africa.
